ASTI2021 - Recovery will only work on original TIBX files - copies of TIBX files are useless

Thread solved

I used to work on the principle that you can neve have too many copies of backup files.

With ATI2014, I would create the original Image backup and then use Robocopy to create at least 2 copies and store on other external drives.     Then, with Rescue media, I could point to a TIB Image file on any drive and recover my pc.

With ATI2021, the Database stores a Calendar date and Time.   To recovery with Rescue Media you must point to the calendar date and time.     This works fine with original TIBX file but not with any copy.    Hence my multiple copies are useless.

I use rescue media in Linux.     Perhaps WIN PE may work on my copies.

The internal database is not used by any of the Acronis Rescue Media so that should not be an issue with copies of ATI 2020 or 2021 .tibx files.

What is an issue is the use of metadata linkages between .tibx files that requires all the correct files to be present, so you should never be 'pruning' any unwanted files other than by using the Clean up versions tool to do this on the original files or by using the 'Automatic cleanup' settings for the task creating the files.

If you keep any copies of files identical to the original source location, then copying files should not be an issue!
