ATI 2021
As a long time user of ATI and with all the current problems I would like to ask if anyone has downloaded direct from your Acronis account the linux recovery media iso and used it to back up and recover without any problems, making sure your hardware would be supported.

LOL I thought I would be one of the last users using the Linux isos, I have tried winpe but find the Linux iso a little faster and luckily never had hardware drivers problems.
Thanks.

The speed at which a media boots is immaterial to me. Compatibility is what I look for. Since Linux based media tends to be behind the curve on new hardware I prefer WinPE.

I back up und recover for years on most of our hardware with the iso, because I want not so much installations on the laptops and the desktops (all Windows maschines), where I am responsible for. I used to burn the isos always on CD, but since 2 years I make bootable USB sticks with the tool Rufus. With the iso of ATI 2021, Build 30480, I have only problems on two 3 and 4 years old laptops, where ATI 2021 freezes after I select the location of the backup. On these two machines the problem does not exist when I use ATI 2020 Build 25700.
But on all my machines I have the problem with ATI linux media iso (applies to the versions ATI 2021, Build 30480 and ATI 2020, Build 21400, 22510 and 25700), that ATI does not perform validation when booting from boot media, although backup validation was checked in the options before. Validation is performed only, if manual validation is performed after backup creation. This has been the case only since ATI 2020, and is the case with all build numbers for ATI 2020, 21400, 22510 and 25700. It does not matter whether the boot medium is a USB stick or a CD/DVD and whether the ISO is from the Acronis website in English or the German version created from installed ATI 2020. (I only use the Linux based version in each case.)
Until ATI 2019 the problem with the validation was not present.
I hope you understand what I mean, because my English is not very good and I had the text partially translated automatically.

I use it all the time, especially with Linux distributions. If you are having problems, download the .iso and use rufus to make a bootable iso. When the Windows PE bootable version failed me (made my Optane SSD unbootable) this way worked. You can backup and restore both Windows and Linux drives this way. Linux ext4 partitions will compress but if you use btrfs it will do sector-by-sector and create a huge tib/tibx.
