ATI 2021 full backup seems slow?
I was running 2019 as I recall, and recently upgraded to 2021. I had loads of problems at the start, so I deleted my backup plan and started a fresh plan in 2021. I do a full backup once a week, and incrementals on the days between. ATI reports backup size is usually 1.5 to 2.0 TB. The incrementals run quickly.
The full backup used to take less than 5 hours with previous version of ATI.
Now they take about 17 hours with the 2021 ATI.
Backup is to a USB 3.0 connected WD Mybook 18 TB. That remains the same.
Why is ATI so much slower in the new version?

Lee, there have been reports of issues with subsequent backups running slower than the initial one which, if I remember correctly, Acronis have acknowledged and are looking into! As such, there doesn't seem to be any work-around other than avoiding doing linked validation with the backup task (this can be scheduled as a separate activity via the Advanced options of the backup task).
Having noted the above, it is possible that the size of your destination backup storage drive can be a factor here too. The larger drives are not necessarily faster and if you are storing multiple versions chains, this will be slower to work through when ATI is doing any automatic cleanup actions.
I just checked one of my own Disk backup tasks and the latest new Full backup was actually faster than the previous two full backups! This task is using a second internal HDD for storage. In contrast, another Disk backup task going to an external USB 3.0 2TB HDD was a few minutes slower for each of the last 3 full backups (26 mins, 32 mins, 36 mins) but all not noticed as the task runs when the PC is otherwise idle / sleeping.

Seems this is getting worse.
My latest full backup took over 37 hours to produce a 1.60 TB (1,765,105,905,664 bytes) tibx. I have tried every suggested trick on this thread and others. Nothing seems to help. Output is a WD My Book 25EE USB 18TB external drive drive. I upgraded Acronis to 2021 and installed the 18TB drive at about the same time.
Previously my output was to a WD My Book 25EE USB 8TB external drive drive. Those same full backups (same source, and same size) took only 5 hours using the same USB port to the 8 TB drive.
I have run performance speed benchmarks for both the 8 TB and the 18 TB drive, and every performance aspect appears to be negligible at best.
2021 is 7.5 times slower for me. 2021 adds 32 hours time to the original 5 hours than my the previous version of Acronis.
Is there any hope for a forthcoming fix for this?
