ATI2021 - are backups to cloud only saved as full versions?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

a client uses ATI2021 to backup his computer to an external harddrive. It creates one full backup each month and between those only differential backups are created.

Additionally, the replication/copy to the cloud is activated where he has 1TB storage space. First, we configured to not store than 28 versions of the backup in the cloud.

However, the storage is suddenly full and it seems that only full versions are saved in the cloud, i.e. for everyday during the month a full backup is stored in the cloud even when only a differential backup is created local only.

I don't find any information about the procedure in the documentation. Are only full versions created in the cloud storage? If yes, isn't this useless and wasteful since his 1TB storage space is full within a week?

Best regards

Burak, if you use replication to the Acronis Cloud then it uploads the same files as you see on the local / external storage drive, so yes, if your local backup makes a monthly full backup followed by differential backups, all of these files are being uploaded to the cloud!

I would recommend deleting the replica to the cloud to recover the storage space and having a separate backup going direct to the Acronis Cloud.

Direct cloud backups only ever make a single Full backup after which they use a hybrid incremental type backup using a delta to identify only changed data that is uploaded, so is much more efficient than using replication!

I agree with Steve - do not use replica. They take up much more storage than the direct cloud backup, plus periodic full backups can take a long time when replicated to the Cloud.

I have only used replication during beta testing.
