Bachup won't run until replica stops 2021

Thread solved

I had this working in 2020, but in 2021 my daily local backup is "queued" awaiting the replica completing.  Now, my replica seldom completes successfully because, I guess, my upload bandwidth is pretty small.  Once in a while it does complete after several days running, but not often.

So I'm not relying on the acronis cloud too much.  The cloud storage was what convinced me to start with acronis, but that part has been a disappointment.

Perhaps I need to turn the replicating off and just do a daily local backup.  Thing is, it all worked to my satisfaction in the 2020 release.

Can somebody point me to some info that would help me solve this situation?

Thanks for your help

Don, using replica requires a good internet connection; I have a 100/36 Mbps cable connection and even so when the replica upload is of a full backup it can take a very long time.

Unless you have a specific need, a separate backup to the cloud is preferable, as once the initial backup is done, the subsequent backups are all incremental.

I cannot remember if it is possible to delete a replica when it is backing up, but that would be the first thing I would look at. If not you can pause the replica. Hopefully you will the be able to delete the replica - deleting the replica leaves the local backup in place.

Thanks Ian for your advice.  I was also thinking along your same line, re just a regular backup to the cloud rather than a replica.

Here's my next question:  I tried to turn off the replication altogether by entering 0 in the keep how many replicas, but it will not allow that.  Perhaps I just need to delete the whole backup entirely and start a new one that does not replicate?

I'm not quite sure here, and the support documents are not at all helpful.  My impression is they are not updated from one release to the next.

Anyway I look forward to any hints you can send my way...

When you right click on the V next to the task, one option is delete, which then (if I recall correctly) gives options to delete the replica only or delete both the replica and the (local) backup.

Thank you for your help Ian!  I was able to kill the replica job and start a straight backup to acronis cloud.  It took about 2-3 days for a 300 something GB backup, but after that it is just an incremental backup which finishes in 20-30 minutes.  I am feeling good about having a good local and cloud backup every day now.  That was my goal...

Glad you got it sorted
