backing up to DVDs

Thread needs solution

So I thought I would try the backup to CD, not having tried it before.  (You get spoiled just putting things on a flash stick).  But these were large blocks of files that I don't want to lose over time, (about 20 Gb in one case).  I started True Image and put them on DVDs.  No problem.  One of the options was to add TI to the disks, which would be real handy.  So I did.  Booted computer from Disk 1 and tried to load the TIBX from the interface. Won't load.  Says "With the bootable media you can only recover files from disk backups on Acronis Cloud.  File backups cannot be restored.  Use the online dashboard at cloud.acronis.com instead"

Now I don't know what that means.  Does it mean you can backup to a DVD but you can't restore from it?  That makes no sense.  If I wanted the data on the cloud I would have put it on the cloud.

Can someone explain what is going on here?

Thanks

Lyn, in all honesty I have not used DVD's for either backup or boot media in a very long time, probably approaching 10 years or so!

If you create a Files & Folders backup to any type of optical media then this will not be using the new .tibx file format - it will be stored as .tib files, as all other Files & Folders backups use.

The .tib files on your DVD media should still be accessible from within Windows by either using ATI or using Explorer.

Any limitation may simply be due to trying to boot from and recover files / folders from the same DVD media, and can be overcome by either doing any recovery from within Windows or else simply copying the files from the DVD(s) to a local disk drive.
