Backup Issues after upgrading to 2021

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I upgraded already 2 out of 5 PCs with 2021 versions and on both of them the upgrade caused only problems:

1. PC #1

Backup (continued from 2020, first run on 2021 version) is Validating with the status "less than 1 minute" for hours...

2. PC #2

Backup (continued from 2020, first run on 2021 version) is Backing up... with the status "Calculating time remaining..." for hours

Any solutions to this?  It doesn't seem specific PC problem. Both PCs are fully updated in Windows Update and the backups were working like a charm in 2020 edition.

By the way one more comment. I really did NOT like that you turned ON the Cyber Security by default during the installation. It's not fair really. I intentionally turned OFF the Protection function in 2020 as it was causing a lot of issues with performance and the use of this function is next to none for me. Then WHY during the installation you turn in ON again without asking  me first? Both my PCs were completely high CPU (the same as with Protection funciton from 2020) and I had to spend time on finding the culprit again. Really unessesary and shameful.

ok, so  will answer to myself...

I uninstalled the program and installed it from scratch. Now it's working. Definitely something is wrong with the upgrade procedure then. Hopefully someone will look into it.

Krzysztof, welcome to these public User Forums.

I have upgraded several of my own PC's from 2020 to 2021 without seeing the particular issues you have described but there may be other factors involved, i.e. if those tasks have come from an earlier version before 2020 perhaps?

Doing a clean install can be a good move to make and will solve any issues associated with either the upgrade process or else ported from other versions.

CyberProtection is only normally turned on by default in the subscription versions where this is included, but the standard / perpetual versions only include the Active Protection against Ransomware that was in ATI 2020 alongside a 3-month trial option for the subscription CyberProtect feature!

Personally, I have all the new 2021 Protection turned off due to issues that should have been resolved prior to release to the public!  I cannot even turn on the AAP limited feature as it turns itself off after just a few seconds!

Sorry to know about the issues with high CPU! Passing your feedback to the product team for review
