Backup & Recovery

Thread needs solution

I downloaded Windows 10 Pro to upgrade my Windows 10 Home edition BUT the download did not install properly and I now have no product key to activate the windows installation. If I restore from a prior backup, Will the original Windows 10 Home edition replace the new corrupted installation, or am I 'stuck' with this corrupted installation?? I don't know if Acronis backs up Windows each time.

If you restore a backup made before the aborted upgrade, then the old Windows 10 Home should return in all its glory. (Sorry, it has been a long day and ...) To upgrade to Windows 10 Pro all you have to do is to change the product key with one for Windows 10 Pro.

Open settings, then select "system" and "About" at the bottom left and then click on "Change product key or change edition".

Hope this helps, if not just say so.

When download completed, no Product ID was provided and it has been impossible to contact Microsoft ! I am now protesting the $99 charge thru Paypal

James, how annoying. Hopefully it will soon be resolved.
