Came back to see the state of the union for Acronis..
I am shocked that Acronis is still incredibly tone-deaf! I purchased Acronis 2021 when it was first released. At that time, I had many performance issues and was disturbed that I could not disabled the built in anti-malware. I reverted to Acronis 2020 (begrudgingly) and dealt with the incredibly slow login each time I need to log in.
Fast forward until now..
I was just notifed that my renewal is up for Acronis in a few days. I will not be renewing. My primary reason is that we have to hold "tone-deaf" companies responsible for their actions. I was truly hoping to log into the forums and see that they have made a lot of positive changes, however, i see that it is the same old story. If anything, its worse.
It seems like Acronis's CEO is going to put a stake in the ground with the goal of forcing anti-malware on everyone with the hopes of luring in business by making it their key differentiator from other backup products (see link below). However, they are blind if they believe that this will work by ignoring their current customers. I am a Director at a multi-million dollar national data center. If I ever hear that we are going to use or evaluate Acronis, I will personally make sure they know all of the grief that I have experienced. Piss off enough people in this forum community and eventually the word of mouth gets out.
(tried to paste a link but Acronis wont let me.. Google TechCrunch Acronis raises $250M at a $2.5B+ valuation to double down ...)
It pains me to leave because Steve and some of the other MVPs are incredible at helping others in their time of need. I wish you all well.
PS - Steve, keep up the good fight. I saw your post that showed your dealings with Acronis support regarding 2021 and disabling the anti-malware features. If there is one post that sums up Acronis, it is certainly that one. TONE DEAF!

@Janson
True Image, the most reliable and recommended product that many of us have used since the early 2000s died years ago (the downfall probably started around 2016 or even earlier when they started to go over the top by including bloated useless features and the constant system hogging of the background processes).
I hope the developers of Macrium Reflect (and developers of other competing imaging software) takes a good hard look at True Image as a blue print of what not to do with their software.

I stopped using True Image around five years ago after suffering numerous issues when trying to restore backups. I've kept in touch with the product's changes since and find it laughable that someone thought it a good idea to shoehorn anti-malware into a backup product.
Acronis should concentrate on the backup solution which, in my experience, wasn't anywhere near as rock solid as Macrium Reflect.

Thanks Steve. The discussion that you posted was very helpful. I appreciate the help that you have provided (through all of your informative posts) while I was an active user of ATI. I am going to give Macrium a shot as my next backup program.
