Can Acronis protect against AgeLocker ransomware attacks on NAS devices?

Thread needs solution

I recently found out about a malware attack on QNAP NAS and similar devices.

(Search for bleepingcomputer qnap-warns-of-agelocker-ransomware-attacks-on-nas-devices )

I know of someone who has fallen victim to this and had all of his data encrypted!

Would any Acronis software have prevented this kind of attack?

Thanks.

BR, the answer would depend on how the ransomware gets access to the NAS in the first place?

The new Acronis Cyber Protect feature of ATI 2021 can help protect against ransomware attacking the Windows system where it is installed and from malware spreading to connected NAS devices.

If the ransomware directly attacks the NAS through known vulnerabilities in the software as is the case with QNAP, then no - having ACP on your Windows PC won't protect the NAS.

Unfortunately we have already had one user come to the forums after his QNAP NAS was attacked and his files all 'zipped' in encrypted containers!
