cannot delete old backups

Thread solved

I have 3 backup files, each with a complete version and 5 incremental.

As I have reached the size of my HD I wanted to delete the oldest file

I selected the backup and right clicked on "version cleaning" (or similar: translated from Italian)

Here I selected the oldest file and clicked on "Delete"

The program started and finished working after about 5 sec (!) with no message but didn't delete anything!

I got the same issue in 2020 version and hoped they had solved this problem.

Any suggestion?

This looks like the known issue with the Clean up versions tool that stops it from working when there is too little free space on the destination drive! If you have the latest ATI 2021 #34340 build installed, then this also confirms that this issue isn't fixed in that new build!

The only suggestion that I can make is as follows:

Move one large backup file from your HDD temporarily to another drive.  Ideally this should be a file for a different task than the one where you are wanting to use the Clean up versions tool.

Use the tool to remove the unwanted backups for the task with the problem you described above.

When you have been able to make free space, then move back the first large file again.

Please submit Feedback to Acronis about this issue with the clean up versions tool!

Thank you very much!

It solved my problem!

But how many GB shall I keep free in order to be able to delete old backups ?

How can I contact Acronis? Couldn't find any email address.

Another post I saw said that around 250MB may be enough free space on the storage drive to allow the clean up versions tool to work!
