can't use my computer while it is backing up

This seems to be a new issue, possibly brought in with a recent update.

When my computer does its daily incremental backup, it goes through a period of several minutes where the computer is basically unresponsive. Task manager shows light CPU and network usage, but disk usage is at 100%.

I know True Image tries not to use all you CPU, so that you can still use your computers, but what about "disk" usage?

System is Win10, 6 cores, 32 GB RAM

Bruce, unless you have altered the priority of your ATI backup tasks then they should not be causing your PC to become unresponsive.

There are several suggestions to offer here:

Try creating a new backup task and see if this shows the same issue.

If the problem persists, try doing a Repair Install as per KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings
