cyber-protect-service

Thread needs solution

I have several folders and files in Library\Logs\Acronis\cyber-protect-services which I cannot delete because as an administrator account I do not have permission for deleting these files. What gives? They are files that I cannot purge with CleanMyMac and cannot access with the Finder. They also seem to be giving me problems in completing a Time Machine backup. Why can I not delete or have permission access?

Richard, welcome to these public User Forums.

Caveat: I am a Windows user with no direct experience of using ATI on any Mac.

If you have ATI 2021 for Mac with Protection turned on, then these files / folders are protected by the Acronis Protection services and cannot / should not be deleted.

Even if you have used the option to 'Turn off protection permanently' you may still find that Acronis leaves the Active Protection and Cyber Protect services active (if it behaves in the same way as it does for Windows?).

Typically, any logs created by ATI should be managed only by the application and will be removed when the application is uninstalled.
