Disabling Antivirus and Ransomware - Settings reverted - grayed Box - Bloated installation

Thread needs solution

First I need to say that including Antivirus protection in a product installation without having the option to uninstall is ridiculous. Completely. It is disturbing my Antivirus and clogs the CPU at 100%. Very very bad.

But now I also have the situation that I even can’t switch Antivirus off. The setting is reverting, and not saved if I press OK. Same for the scheduled scan setting. Please check the attached screenshots.

Also the button is greyed out. Downloads do not work.

Unfortunately I bought 10 licenses, and now I have to live with this immature piece of software. I really regret the purchase. Not to speak about the more than 800 MB installation file and unneeded service installations.

But I have to live with this, so please find a solution.

Please, let the user choose NOT to install Antivirus, and other unnecessary things. Make a professional installer where components and installation path can be chosen.

Thank you.

Alexander, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please ensure that you have installed the latest build #32010 version of ATI 2021 as this fixes some issues in the area of enabling / disabling the new Protection features.

I would recommend turning off all options shown in the Protection Settings panels then click on the OK button to try to get that to be accepted, after which all protection should be turned off.

Unfortunately, even with Protection turned off permanently you will still see that the Acronis Active Protection and Acronis Cyber Protection services and processes still running in the background!

Acronis have an internal change request: TI-213392 Allow installation without Antimalware components which is being worked on, which I would encourage all users to add their vote for by submitting Feedback quoting the above request details!

Please also open a Support Case direct with Acronis to complain about the issues you are seeing with Protection and make your views / comments known to them!

Hi Steve,

thank you for your reply.

As I mentioned, I could not switch off the settings in the protection panel.

After switching OFF and pressing OK, the setting was automatically switched ON again (See Image Capture 2).

It was not possible to switch Protection off, it just was not accepted.

I had to uninstall True Image 2021, now my computer is usable again.

BTW, where can I find the ICR TI-213392 you mentioned, is it already online? I will for sure vote for that...

Hello Alexander,

I've added your comment as a vote for this change request, thank you!

Voting True Image 2021 as a backup solution only, I shouldn't have to waste additional True Image Windows Services, I have OTHER antivirus handlers already,  per internal change request: TI-213392 Allow installation without Antimalware components

Agreed, please add my vote to  allow installation with Antimalware components.  I need to install this on another system to clone some drive and I'm dreading it!  Trying to find another way, without having to install all the extra unwanted features.

+1 !! Same problems for me, the application and my full laptop is toooooo slow ! And I think it also disturb my conf calls. I sent a feedback mentioning the request TI-213392
