Thread needs solution

I upgraded from ATI2020 to ATI2021 a couple of weeks after it launched. Since then I have had multiple problems, e.g. "Unable to lock file", back up stopping asking me to check that the backup location could be accessed (it could), 100% use of CPU, slowing of system etc. etc. From reading this forum I am certainly not alone. I raised a query with Acronis three days ago and have received no response.

Do the developers actually test the software before taking a fistful of cash and pushing it out to consumers?

I have now had enough and have uninstalled this crud from my PC. I will go elsewhere for my back up software.

Robert, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you haven't already done so, then please submit Feedback expressing your dissatisfaction with ATI 2021 direct to Acronis.  You should also request a refund of your upgrade for ATI 2021 if this falls within the qualifying period (which I think is 30 days?).

You can reinstall your ATI 2020 and continue with that version if it was working Ok for you.  If you don't have the installer for ATI 2020, this can be downloaded from the Acronis Product Updates page and use your existing license information.

I totally agree with Robert said.

The 100% of CPU always occurs whenever you tried to run some programs.

I'm pissed with ATI 2021, but nothing I can do because I paid to upgrade and cannot refund after 30 days. :D

Wee Hong Koh, the significant factor shown in your screen image is that it is Acronis Cyber Protect Service that is causing the very high CPU usage.

This is a case where you need to ensure that if you are using the new Cyber Protection feature that you are not also running any other security applications trying to provide the same protection.  It is important to only have one active security application doing realtime protection.

Next, assuming that only Cyber Protection is active, then look carefully at the Protection panels and see what ACP is 'Managing' as this can cause other applications to perform poorly and increase CPU.  If you are seeing lots of valid applications being managed by ACP, then set Protection Exclusions for these.

The alternative is to Turn off Protection permanently via the Protection page options and re-enable either Windows Defender (as I have done myself) or re-enable / reinstall your third party security application to provide antivirus / realtime protection.

Finally, as I advised to Robert, if you haven't already done so, then please submit Feedback expressing your dissatisfaction with ATI 2021 direct to Acronis about the impact of the new Cyber Protection features forced upon users!
