Help please trying to Restore my Win7 Pro desktop system in a Toshiba Laptop.

Thread needs solution

Hi guys:

I am new user of Acronis. I am trying to restore my Entire PC.

-Source system is a built desktop: Win7 Pro x64. (Asus Mother Board, 500 Gb SSD, 16 Gb RAM, UEFI Mode BIOS.) Applications Installed that I cannot loose.

-Target computer is a Toshiba Laptop: Win8 preinstalled P75-A7200. 12 GB. 500 Gb HDD.

In my Source PC.

1-I created my Recovery Media (drivers not included), downloaded the file from my Acronis Account.

2-Backed up my Entire System and validated my back up, into a 256 Gb Flash Drive Formatted in NTFS mode.

Fired up my Target PC and:

1-Changed my BIOS Mode to UEFI to match the Source one and Booted my Target system (Toshiba Laptop) using my recovery media.

2-Universal Restore listed my backup file and I added the drivers file too. Restored the entire system successfully. Shut off my Laptop, pulled my two USB drives (Bootable Media and Back up file)

BUT when I boot up from SSD 500 Gb, the system freezes before the Windows Logo completely forms. It does Play the starting up sound, shows the "Starting Windows" message, the four colors spinning in that dark screen, but freezes before forming the Windows logo. Stays like that no matter how long I wait.

-I believe my Laptop was factory built to run Win8. (preinstalled operating system.)

-Maybe the drivers I downloaded, extracted and added from Toshiba Support Site are not good for Win7.

-I hope I am not the only one downgrading from Win8 to Win7.

What can I do?

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Justo, welcome to these public User Forums.

When you restored your Win 7 backup image to the Toshiba laptop, did you also boot it again from the Acronis Universal Restore media and apply this to make the changes needed to device drivers etc?

From your description above, it sounds as if you only did the restore then are trying to boot into Windows?

Thanks a lot for your help Steve.

It was entirely my fault. I did exactly as you say.

Restored and tried to boot the system into Windows.

I could not wait to see it running Win7 and all the applications I have in the other machine.

I did not thoroughly read and follow the instructions you sent me now.

Thanks. I will boot it again and do as you say.

Thank you for your fast response.
