How to add old backups to new backup database
Hello,
I've had to reinstall Acronis True Image 2021 yesterday due to an issue with it, but since then I can't seem to add my existing backup chain.
I've tried what was suggested here: How to add old backups to new Backup database | Acronis Forum
But no luck.
Does this method no longer work or am I stuck with not being able to import my 2 year running backup chain?
Thanks

Hello,
thank you for responding so fast.
When I select the latest increment backup file and import it, and then do a validate, I don't see any dates in the recovery tab except for that increment.

I see.
When you imported the task you must Reconfigure it so that the database can update itself completely. Looking at the GUI with the task displayed you should see a Reconfigure button located near the lower right corner of the window. Use that button to reconfigure the task selecting Source and backup options as/if necessary. Once that is complete the Recovery tab should repopulate with all the files associated with the task.

Hello,
I've tried this again but I just cant seem to get all my old backups listed.
I imported the increment from the 3rd June and it only shows the last 5 days:
Is there anyway to get all my past backups showing? Or do I need to import all backup files manually?
Thank you.

Have you tried validating the backup task - that can solve missing activity entries.
This is just me clutching at straws. Is the backup Disk & Partitions or Files & Folders. If the latter, it is possible that it is only importing the backup chain you selected - not that I have ever seen it happen when importing. It does happen when you do a clean installation of ATI where scans for all backups and recognises each chain as a separate backup. This can also happen with backup that use the *.tib architecture rather than *.tibx. End of me just clutching at straws.

Hello,
It's Files & Folders the type of backup I was running.
Looking at the files, it is 1 full followed by 6 increments.
The files are all .tib.
Is .tibx newer?
Sorry for noob questions. I originally set up the backup tasks 2 years ago and let it ran. It did it's job, for restoring files and such but when I reinstalled Acronis now, it's thrown me by surprise that I can't import the old backup chain.

Philip, all Files & Folders tasks continue to create .tib files on all versions of ATI. From ATI 2020 onwards, new Disks & Partitions tasks now create .tibx files.
For your wish to see more recovery points for your older backups, then try adding in each of your older 'missing' full backup files using the 'Add existing backup' option and see if this then expands the list of recovery points?
In terms of being able to recover from any of your existing .tib backup files, then you don't need to use the main ATI application recovery panel, as you can simply double-click in Explorer on any specific .tib file. This will open the file and allow you to navigate through the contents, and to use normal Copy & Paste commands if you want to bring back a folder or files etc.
See KB 65547: Acronis True Image 2021: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) and scroll down the page to 'How to restore files in File Explorer' which you should find easier to use if only wanting to recover some files, allowing you to use normal Copy & Paste commands.
