How to recover partitions deleted with Acronis Backup Disk Management Tool

Thread solved

I used the utility within Acronis Backup called Disk Management to delete the partitions of a HD (let's call it disk A) in order to use it to recover the image of another disk B. Soon I noticed that I had selected the wrong disk and destroyed the 3 partitions it contained (with sizes 5GB, 62GB and 340GB containing tools, system and data respectively).  To complicate things further,  later I created a new partition with 80GB where I was planning to install the image of disk B.

I have found many tools oriented to recover single files from a partition, but not the partition as a whole. In other words, I am looking for a method to restore the whole partition structure and all the directories and so on, but not just thousand of single files.

Can I use any software for this purpose ? Which one?

Since deleting the partitions as explained, no further writes have been done in disk A (I am using another disk C to boot the computer, the disk A is used as a secondary disk).

Arturo, welcome to these public User Forums.

I am not familiar with using Acronis Backup as these forums are for Acronis True Image which is a different application, however, partition recovery is something that can be needed by any users.

The best suggestion here is to do a Google search for 'Partition recovery' which will give you plenty of hits for both free and paid software that can do this for you.

The key factor is to avoid any write data to the deleted partitions / drive.

I am assuming that you do not have a backup of the delete disk partitions that you could recover back to that drive?

None of the free programs will recover your partitions until you buy the paid version. I've had very good results using Acronis Disk Director. It has a feature called Recovery Expert that can do the job.

I have used Acronis Revive 2019 in the past with success.  The user guide is linked below.  Have a look and see if it may be of use to you.

Acronis Revive 2019 User Guide

Thank you all for your comments.

I am a bit confused with the Acronis solutions. It seems that there are 3 options:

Acronis Disk Director, as Mustang  said.

Acronis Revive 2019, as Enchantech said.

and Acronis True Image, as Acronis web site for Acronis Revive 2019 says (Acronis Revive 2019 is not on sale anymore).

"We launched Acronis Revive in an effort to make it easy for people to recover files that are accidentally deleted or prematurely removed. While the product has a loyal following, over the years usage has dramatically declined due to the fact that users prefer Acronis True Image— our complete cyber protection solution that can not only backup and recover any file but also protect your data from any malware. So, as of December 15, 2020, we will no longer offer Acronis Revive for sale on Acronis website."

So my question is: is there any significant difference between these products in regard to recovery capabilities or are they (in what recovery is concerned) just the same software in different packages? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The three programs are totally different.

You should use Disk Director. Here are the steps:

1. Launch the "Acronis Recovery Expert" shown in the left hand column.

2. Select "Manual" mode.

3. Click on the Unallocated Space of the drive with the deleted partitions and continue.

4. Select the "Fast" method.

5. You should see the deleted partitions listed within a few seconds.

6. Select the partitions and proceed.

You should be done. If you don't see the partitions listed in step 5 within a minute, you probably won't succeed.

Thank you Paul, it worked like a charm.

... unlike 4-5 other products that I tried and were only able to find files but not to recover the whole partition.

Glad to hear it. It has always worked for me if nothing on the drive was overwritten.
