I can't clone to a new SSD, I can't erase the SSD either

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have two Team Group GX2 2.5_ 512GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drives

Neither one will erase, format, I can’t delete volumes or partitions and so I tried the Acronis software to clone from another SSD onto one of the GX2’s to see if that would get me control, but that failed, even though Acronis say’s the cloning worked ???

I’ve attached three .jpg showing my process … image #3 is exactly like what image #0 would look like.  Rather than the data and folders from the drive I was cloning, the display is always the same Windows C: drive that the drive used to be.

I’ve tried working with the disk management, diskpart, and the Acronis tools.  There must be something I can do to erase these two drives and get them back under control for data drives.

The attached images show that Acronis did a clone, but image 3 is exactly the same as image 0 before the cloning process!  The drive never changes!

Walt, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but there are no images shown for your post above.

What version of Windows are you running on this PC?

How many disk drives do you have installed in the PC?

Are your two Team Group GX2 2.5_ 512GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drives shown in Windows Disk Management as 2 separate drives, or do they show as if they were a single drive, i.e. are they in a RAID array relationship?

If you intention here is to use these two drives as data drives, then what is currently on them and how are they being used at this time?

Personally, I would remove the drives from the host PC and connect them one by one to another PC using an external USB adapter or Dock, then reinitialise or wipe them / reformat them in that way, ensuring that I was selecting the correct drive for such operations!
