Image to Acronis cloud takes 3 days!?

Thread needs solution

hallo, I just test Acronis true image 2021 on my MacBook Pro 2020 with M1 Chip. First backup to the cloud with 191 GB takes about 3 days!! Is this normal? What can I do?

Karlheinz, welcome to these public User Forums.

Backup time to the Acronis Cloud depends on a number of factors that include the location of the Acronis Data Centre you have selected (you should select the nearest to you), the speed of your system, of your network connection, the type of data etc.

You can use the Upload time calculator webpage to get a better understanding of the time that you could expect to achieve for your upload speed in ideal conditions.

Example: 191GB at an upload rate of 10Mbps would be expected to take 1 Day 21 Hours 34 Minutes if that rate could be achieved constantly.

Acronis may use some throttling of upload speeds to their servers in order to allow other users to have a fair share of bandwidth and avoid some users with higher capacity from hogging this!

One final comment, estimated completion times shown by Acronis have been known to be inaccurate and will change as the task progresses, normally coming down in time!

Hi all,

Slow first backup is not an M1 specific issue. Yesterday I started a cloud backup of a new drive that had ~450gb data on it. After 16 hours Acronis had backed up 65.9 gb, which translates to 4 gb per hour. Acronis estimated that the backup had to run 3 days and 17 hours till completion - consistent with saying that the remainder would also upload at 4gb per hour. I find that very unsatisfactory. I have fiber and my internet provider offers 200mbs upload spead (~90gb per hour). I would appriciate it if Acronis would state what they see as an 'acceptable minimum performance'.

I'm seeing the same problem. Acronis Cloud upload speeds have decreased dramatically. I've had to only send data to the cloud once a week instead of everyday it takes so much time. If that isn't bad enough. One of my Disk backups started failing for no reason. All troubleshooting steps pointed to Acronis Cloud as the problem. I finally reverted to a file backup and gave up. When my subscription is up in November. I will find a new Cloud provider.
