Impossible to clone my C:\ SSD since several months

Thread needs solution

Hello, my name is Pol and I encounter issues since several months when cloning my C:\ drive with True Image 2020 and now also 2021 (automatic yearly renewal).

With the automatic mode, after reading the source drive and then the destination drive, I was asked to accept that the actual data of the destination were going to be deleted and of course I accepted this each time. Then started the cloning with mention of the remaining time to complete the process. This was traditional and perfect.

Now however, as soon as I accept the destination content to be erased I am asked to restart my Desktop, THIS NEVER HAPPENED IN THE PAST.

The result is a disaster, the PC never restarts !!

I spent a whole day trying to restart it manually and even don't remember how I finally succeeded !  These last weeks I tried again several times to clone my C:\ disk but I am always asked to restart the computer, thing I do NOT execute in order to avoid the previous disaster I lived for restarting my computer.

Would some of you have an idea of what I could do to fix this repeated issue ?

I thank you a lot for your kind help !

Pol, welcome to these public User Forums.

Acronis will mainly require a restart when doing cloning when it detects an existing OS installation on the target disk drive being used.

If you want to continue to use the Active Cloning feature to clone from within Windows, then you should clear the target drive first, which you can do by using the 'Add new disk' option (from the All tools option) to prepare the drive using the same partition scheme as the source SSD (GPT or MBR) then leave the drive as 'unallocated space' ready for cloning to.
