Incremental images after upgrading to 2021

Thread solved

Does Acronis recommend  not appending incremental images (TIBX) after updating to 2021 ? But rather starting full images ?

Howard, if you upgraded from 2020 then incrementals are exactly the same in 2021.  If you upgraded from 2019 or earlier to 2021 then all incrementals are consolidated within the file created by the initial full backup for the version chain.

See KB 63516: Acronis True Image 2020: Incremental backups do not create separate files when using new backup format

There is no reason not to use incremental images with the new .tibx files but a different understanding needed for how they now work and are managed.

Perhaps I should have worded that differently.

My question was about compatability between 2020 TIBX   and 2021 TIBX and whether it was wise to do an incremental after upgrading from 2020 as opposed to starting a new full backup

I will take your answer as a YES

During beta testing (over two months +) I continued to run several backup tasks created with ATI 2020 and had no issues with them. They were mostly incremental backups.
