Marco, you should be able to upgrade from 2020 to 2021. The .tibx file format was introduced in ATI 2020 and is the same in ATI 2021 so there would be nothing to convert. If you upgrade, it should continue with your configured backup tasks.

I have had no problems upgrading from ATI 2020 to ATI 2021.

All tasks were retained.

Ian, can you still use the .TIB format or are you forced to use the .TIBX format when ATI 2021 is installed? When I installed the beta on top of 2020 automatically the .TIBX file was created. I initially installed over 2020, 2020 was installed over 2019 and so on all the way back to the version available in 2012 or 2010. I build my desktop in 2010 and have had to perform a clean install of windows a few times but when possible I just upgrade. I'm now at the point where I'm considering a clean install of Win10 but for me the effort is huge and I already have too many projects. For now I'm just struggling with my current install. After going through computer hell with ATI 2021 I reverted back to 2020. Reverting back to 2020 was a painful process.

John, the same rules apply with 2021 as for 2020 as far as .tibx goes.

All new Disk backups now use .tibx, existing disk backups from older versions (2019 & earlier) continue with their .tib format.  Files & Folders still only use .tib files.

You can still trick 2021 to use .tib for disk backups.  See forum topic: How to create a Disk backup as .tib (not .tibx) which will create a new backup task using the older .tib format in the Windows ATI 2020 & 2021 GUI.
