Kernel panic when enabling Malware Protection on ATI

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATI v. 25.8.39229 on a MacBook Pro with macOS 11.2.3 Big Sur installed. Some weeks ago, after an update, the malware protection/scanning required the kernel extensions to be re-enabled in order to work. I enabled them, and this required the system to reboot. After rebooting, macOS suddenly died before the login window. So, I had to go into Recovery Mode and disable the ATI kernel exts in order for the system to boot again.

How can I solve this?

Hello Fabio,

The kernel panic may be related to the update, that you have mentioned. Potentially, a serious issue during update can lead to a kernel panic. We don't have such known issue registered yet, but in theory, it can happen.

Run the cleanup tool https://kb.acronis.com/content/58820#mac to remove the the program completely, reboot the computer and install the latest version v. 25.8.39229 anew. Download link is always available under your Acronis account page https://account.acronis.com/.

If it doesn't help, we'd be glad to help you further, investigate your case in depth, involve development team. Collect a system report https://kb.acronis.com/content/58820#mac and submit a ticket as per https://kb.acronis.com/contactsupport

Thank you
