Max 'Store no more than XX recent backup versions'

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have noticed that the 'Store no more than XX recent backup versions' under the cloud backup settings in ATI 2021 reverts to 20 when set higher than 20. Is this normal?

I try to set it at 999, and have the option 'Delete version that are older than 6 months' set. This way I can have as many versions as I need, but save space by deleting after 6 months.

This auto reverting to 20 versions is very frustrating as no matter now many times I change it always reverts back to 20.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I have not noticed any issues with my own Cloud backup settings being reset or changed but in all honesty it is not something that I tend to go look at either!

There have been users reporting a repeat of the issues from last November when settings were being lost because of changes made to the Acronis Dashboard servers and propagated via the Acronis Managed Machine Mini Service which communicates with those servers!

If that is the case, (again not seen myself) then users need to report this direct to Acronis to get their attention to fix it!

How soon do you see the number of versions revert back to 20 after being changed?  Does this happen as soon as you go back into the Options or is it delayed for some time?

Ok, thanks for confirming!  I had previously gone straight back in to my cloud backup settings and the change from 20 months to 30 was kept, but when I revisited them again just now, they too had been reverted back to 20 months, and reverted back again after changing!

So yes, there is a definite issue here which is not being caused by the MMMS service on my PC as this has been stopped for weeks!

Looks like another new code issue introduced by the latest build #35860 for ATI 2021.

Please open a Support Case with Acronis for this and I will do the same too!

So after a bit of experimentation I have found a work around.

If you change the setting it does not appear to save after reloading ATI. However if you first select 'initial settings', then input the desired values (along with any other settings) then the settings appear to save correctly.

Ok, will do some further testing on my system to see if the work around will work here too!

Although this appeared to fix the issue of the settings not saving, it changed the backup server from UK to USA with no way of changing, and the link was broken to my cloud back up. There was no way around but to create a fresh backup which was annoying. So I made another one with the UK server, but back to square one with settings not saving.

There definitely seems to be something screwed up here!  I have never known any destination Cloud server change to a different country provided the initial backup has been created?

The default Cloud server (Data Centre) is tied in with your Acronis profile.  I know because my own Acronis profile defaults to France for reasons that baffle me completely, especially as I live less than 50 miles from London!  So have to remember to change this for every cloud backup task I create!

The only possible cause is if you were testing on a new task, not yet run, when you did the reset to defaults, which would then pick up the USA server, assuming that is your default??

I tested with creating a new cloud backup to the UK server and the versions stayed as set at 30 and 12 months!
