Migrating from Dell 5400 to 5410 hangs on missing driver

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

I am trying to migrate from a Dell 5400 laptop to a Dell 5410 laptop. I cloned my 5400 SSD to an external drive (WD Blue 1TB 5400rpm in a USB-to-SATA enclosure) with the options to transfer to another computer checked/selected in ATI 2021. I'm trying to move the image from the external drive to the new laptop while using Acronis Universal Restore and it fails citing a missing driver. I have been unable to find or even completely identify this driver:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_02ED&SUBSYS_09A01028&REV_00

I've searched Dell's driver downloads and driver packs, and haven't found it. I've checked the Intel website, but it doesn't seem to be there. The closest I've come is a page on this site, pci-ids (dot) ucw(dot)cz/read/PC/8086/02ed which seems to point to an xHCI USB 3.1 driver. That's the closest I've come.

Can someone help me find this driver?

My understanding of this type of migration is that you should not be using cloning!

See KB 65413: Acronis True Image 2021: Restoring to dissimilar hardware with Acronis Universal Restore which shows the recommended process that you need to follow which uses a Backup created from your Dell 5400 laptop and Recover to restore this to your Dell 5410 laptop.

If both laptops have been activated for the same edition of Windows 10, i.e. both for Home or Pro, then you may not need to use AUR if the 5410 will boot into Windows after the restore and the OS is able to detect and install any further device drivers.

If the laptops have been activated for different editions of Windows 10, then you will need to resolve activation issues after the migration (unless you have a license for Windows that allows it to be moved or used on more than one PC).

Note: if the Dell 5410 came installed with Windows 10, then you could use a utility program such as Double Driver to export the working device drivers from that laptop to have available as / if needed.  This is assuming you still have the original working drive for that laptop or have made a full disk backup of it before starting this migration.
