Mobile backup not accessible from Windows application

Thread needs solution

These days I have finally been able to get the Android mobile app to actually backup automatically. Sometimes. That's progress.

The Windows 2021 application doesn't show the cloud backup though. It does show the local backup, but it's not accessible.

Screen shot of error message with more information below. Unfortunately it just tells you to look it up in the online Knowledge Base, in which there's no information.

Dave, any mobile backups to the Acronis Cloud are never shown in the ATI GUI in my experience.

Local backups should be accessible providing that the backup location is available, i.e. T:\Mobile in your screen image.  If that location is available then clicking on the Browse files button should open an Explorer window to the backup folder(s).

Note: Acronis Drive and the Acronis Mobile Backup Server services should be active!  The backup data is mounted to the Acronis Drive M: location rather than the storage location!

Hi Steve,

Okay, mobile backups to the cloud never shown in the ATI GUI: Got it. Seems like they should be though.

The T:\Mobile location is available. T: is where all the other Acronis local stuff is backed up. Acronis Mobile Backup Server is running. But Acronis Drive seems to be a problem. When I look at Autoruns I see that Acronis Drive is colored red. I read that "Red means that the item’s in the registry, the file is in place, but the Publisher string is empty." I see that a bunch of the Acronis entries are red, all dated 10/2/2020, except for one 10/6/2020.

When I run Services as Admin I don't see AcronisDrive listed.

Anyone familiar with this "Publisher string is empty" situation?

Dave, I would recommend doing a Repair Install to correct the issue with Acronis Drive.

I see as in the attached image for Acronis Drive in Autoruns.
Note: AcronisDrive is a process not a service.

Steve, I downloaded ATI again, checked the hash, repaired, rebooted, same thing.

Thanks for pointing out that Acronis Drive is a process. I do see something like acronis_drive in the Task Manager.

Still get the error. Acronis still shows as red in Autoruns.

Huh.

Dave, not sure what else to suggest.  Of interest, I had to do an uninstall / reinstall of ATI 2021 yesterday because of an issue with the new Cyber Protect feature, where the knock-ion effect was that my Android mobile backups were lost and Acronis Drive wasn't active.

I deleted the Backup destination on the Android and setup a new mobile backup and that did bring back Acronis Drive etc.  So may be worth trying the latter action.

Steve, I seem to have got the "Publisher string is empty" thing sorted. In Autoruns I ran "Verify code signatures." Don't know why it didn't just do that in the first place, but it's not complaining about Acronis anymore. Apparently that wasn't causing the the problem.

Tried your latter action, deleting the backup destination and setting up a new mobile backup. Seems like a good suggestion. Didn't work for me. I guess I'll let this one fade away. Thanks for pondering it with me.
