Naming Mobile device backups
Since last week we have to Nokia 5.3 phones, one is named "Nokia 5.3 A", one is named "Nokia 5.3 B" in the settings app. I added a new mobile backup for "A", which showed up as "Nokia 5.3". Then I added a new mobile backup for "B", which also showed up as "Nokia 5.3".
If there is a good reason to forbid changing a mobile backup name (when it is the first option for other backups), I should at least get a warning before I end up with two indistinguishable mobile backups. Being asked to provide a unique name when adding a backup would be a nice option, too.
I'm very curious to see if both devices are not only sharing their names but also the same backup folder on disk, too. That would make restoring anything quite a job.

Hi Steve,
thanks for the warm welcome.
That's exactly the place where I set the names to "Nokia 5.3 A" and "Nokia 5.3 B". I even deleted the existing backups on the PC and the backup location on the phone "A" and started from scratch, but still ended up with "Nokia 5.3" as backup name. I can do the same to the other phone when it comes home next time, but I don't have much hope that it would make a difference.
Out of curiosity: if you now add a mobile backup, does ATI use your new device name for the new backup?
Thanks,
Stefan

Stefan, I deleted the existing Backup destination in the Acronis Mobile app on my phone and then created a new backup which uses the new name I gave it.

So it might be the phone's fault ... great.
I deinstalled Acronis Mobile and installed it again (so that it only ever saw "my" device name), but it still created a new backup as "Nokia 5.3".
oh, well. Looks like I have to figure out something else.
Thanks,
s.

Stefan, try using a completely different name instead of one that is essentially the same apart from the final character, or put the character in front of the name, i.e. A Nokia 5.3 & B Nokia 5.3

Nope. Named the device "Stefan", deleted old backup, created new backup, still get "Nokia 5.3".
I'll have the other phone backup to another PC and avoid this whole mess.
Thanks again,
s.

The only other thought Stefan is whether the phone needs to be restarted for the name change to be fully completed? My Android didn't need this but....?

Nope again. Restarted the phone, deleted all app data, still at "Nokia 5.3".
Either ATI is asking for something that the Android 10 on the Nokia 5.3 answers differently than your Android on your Samsung or the Nokia phone does not respond with the given device but only the factory device name.
Now if there were some simple code snippet, I'd fire up my Android Studio and check if the Nokia facts meet the ATI expectations...
