New Recovery Partition Too Large

Thread needs solution

I used Acronis True Image for WD to clone my 500GB SSD to a 2TB SSD. Apparently I did something wrong because the primary partition is only ~500GB and the recovery partition is ~1.5TB. How best to change the partition sizes?

Thanks,

Pete

Peter, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

I have not encountered any reports of the recovery partition being resized in the way you describe (as far as I remember!).

The simplest method of resolving this issue is to first download a copy of the free MiniTool Partition Wizard software, install this, then use this tool to first resize the recovery partition to the size it should be, then to move the recovery partition to the right end of the new drive space, after which you can resize the OS partition to use the available free / unallocated drive space.

My experience mirrors that of Steve Smith; his suggested solution is the one I would adopt.
