Recovery
Hallo zusammen,
Attempt to use null reference (0x10001)
$module = „trueimg_home_pe_vsa64_34340“
Processor::RaiseNullReferenceException: -
C:\jenkins_agent\workspace\ati-main-win\1022\processor\ref.cpp(236)
Könnt ihr mir bitte helfen?
Beste Grüße,
wisch
PS: Ich muss allerdings um 14.30 Uhr zu einem Auswärtstermin, der bis zum Abend dauert.

Hi Steve
I'm back in my office. The error appears during restore. We built the rescue medium together at the time, in connection with Bitlocker, so it's not entirely new, but it would still have to work, wouldn't it? The drive image is from 12.08.21. On Monday my motherboard is to be replaced and then I try to restore my laptop. If necessary, then I could access another PC with some circumstances.
Best regards,
wisch

Something else for a better understanding: I had deleted the partition C: with a Windows boot stick in between, because I hoped that then the recovery would work. I might have a bigger problem with this if I couldn't restore!

I would recommend restoring the whole disk with all partitions rather than just the C: partition so that all the boot data etc is matched to the system as it was captured at the time of the backup being made.

Hi Steve
I did this, but the result is the same. Do you have another idea?

Are you able to try restoring the same backup image to a drive on another PC to prove that both the image and the media being used are both good? Doing so would confirm your initial post where you say the laptop has given up the ghost!

Dear Steve
I'll wait until the motherboard is replaced next week, and then I'll try again.
I deleted and reinstalled C: using a Windows media. At this level, it works. Only when starting on the graphics layer does the laptop freeze.
What does this error message mean?

Hi Steve, hello everyone
Completely absurd 🤮
I just got a call from Dell that the board can only be replaced on 20.09. And this despite the fact that I have a support contract with a technician "the next working day".
Sad and angry greetings,
wisch

Sorry to hear of the long delay from Dell - hope you have an alternative PC to use in the interim!

Unfortunately no, will be a difficult time for me. I wanted to buy the successor of my laptop anyway and give it to my grandson because the suppor is leaking. Is there a chance to restore to another/new device with my partition backup, or do I have to reinstall/configure everything in days of work?

If you have a full disk backup from the failed laptop that includes all the hidden / system partitions along with the OS C: partition, then this can be recovered to another laptop / to different hardware. You need those hidden / system partitions for the OS to be bootable!
Windows 10 is a whole lot better at recognising changed hardware than previous versions of the OS, so you should not need to use Acronis Universal Restore to resolve issues with device drivers, especially if the new laptop is similar to the old one.

Thank you, this reassures me 👍, because I have always made partition images as a full backup.

Hi Steve,
Dell remembered that I have support pro (next Business day). Earlier, a technician replaced the motherboard. Unfortunately, I still could not restore. Then I installed Windows 10 21H1 and the current TI. But even with that, it doesn't work. I added and validated a backup from 09.08. But it is displayed with "No information about the file contents". I can open the backup file by double-clicking. Do you have an idea? I took a photo of the error message and sent it to my wife's iPad, but I don't know how to put this in this thread.
But still done:

Going back to basics for the moment!
Are you booting from the ATI 2021 WinPE rescue media (created with the 'Simple' option) using UEFI BIOS boot mode?
When in the WinPE rescue environment, do you see all your internal & external drives?

This was the last backup. I had always set without planning, custom schema and complete. But now A suspicion comes to me: Did TI possibly make a chain out of it (?), or is this a wrong track?

Some time ago, together with Paul, we assembled the rescue stick for Bitlocker. Everything worked perfectly. I don't understand the world anymore. It looks like the images from the system with Bitlocker active are not usable. Or could it be that it doesn't work because I've installed VMware Workstation pro in the meantime? However, the work files are on D: So, and now my laptop slider is broken, it constantly freezes after booting up. Somehow fate doesn't mean so well with me :-(

The rescue media with BitLocker support is only intended as a means of accessing encrypted drives in order to be able to unlock them, after which, ATI should never see any encrypted data when doing either a backup or a recovery.
If you made the backups using ATI in Windows, then again BitLocker should be unlocked and all the drive data seen as not encrypted to the backup task.
VMware Workstation shouldn't come into play unless it is a Virtual Machine that you are working with here rather than a Windows laptop or desktop system that is being recovered.

Good morning Steve
So, something must have gone wrong with the drive backup. Because both with the stick and from the running system on the recovery does not work, although the Bitlocker is deactivated. Do you think it makes sense to try the 2020 version of TI? But first the Dells have to get my box running again.

Hello Steve
Hallelujah ✌️✌️✌️✌️ my system is running again.
What I did: At the BIOS level, a downgrading of the firmware to 3 levels lower, so I was on the level of the replaced motherboard. And then I continued to feel my way up to 1 version before the current one. And then I was able to start Windows. I then decrypted my drives from Bitlocker and disabled them in BIOS Secure Boot (Windows 11 needs this and that's why I recently enabled this). I still have to check if I can restore when the Bitlocker is activated again. It seems that there are issues between the current firmware for my laptop related to Secure Boot.
And finally, thank you very much for your support and for your tireless helpfulness 🙏
Best regards,
wisch

Always glad to read of success so very well done for your perseverance in getting to that point with the BIOS changes etc!
