Registration oddity

Thread needs solution

Ever since upgrading to Acronis True Image 2021, the software always opens to the Account page that has a “Notice” dot and seems to be prompting me to upgrade.  But as the screenshot shows, I’ve upgraded.  I’ve reentered my registration number, to no avail.  The “Notice” dot still appear, and it keeps opening to the Account page and not Backup page like before.

Any idea how I can get rid of the dot and have it open to the Backup page?  It’s not a big deal, but unnecessary and annoying.

Thanks.

The GUI is opening on the Account "page", please confirm that you have tried changing to Backup, then closing and reopening the GUI.

It that does not work I would suggest using a Repair Installation - 60195: Acronis True Image: repair, update and clean installations on Windows.

Thanks for your note.  Yes, I've changed to Backup, closed and re-opened the GUI.  Sort of the same problem.  To clarify, it doesn't always open to the Account page (as I wrote before, my mistake, sorry), but it does always still have that "Notice dot" on the Account heading as if it's a reminder for me to do something, like perhaps register, and I have no idea what that would be to get rid of the "dot."

(I never had this "dot" with my previous version of True Image, so perhaps it's a "feature" of version 2021 and will always be there, though I suspect not.)

Thanks for the suggestion.  I've saved your link, but first I'm going to wait to hear if there are any other suggestions here or back from Acronis before I dive into repairing the installation and risking screwing things up even more...

Robert, look at the Acronis system tray notification icon to see if that also has a 'dot' showing and any outstanding messages, such as advertising special offers from Acronis?

Steve, thanks for your note.  There is no "dot" anywhere in the Acronis System Tray setting -- though there still is a notice for the special Holiday Offer to get True Image 2021, even though I bought it and registered it, and am running it.  (Though, for all I know, that offer stays up by default until it expires.  Or not.)

Again, to be clear, this isn't a problem.  Just an annoyance, since whenever you see a "Notice dot" like that, it's to tell you there's something to check, and maybe an issue.  So, you have to check it every time, just to be sure there isn't a new problem that's cropped up.

And I checked again today, and when the True Image program loaded, it opened to that Account page with the "Notice dot," not the Backup screen.  The sense I'm getting is that it seems when I shut down True Image it will next reopen to whichever section I last was in, like Backup, as long as I haven't rebooted my system.  But when my computer reboots, that wipes out the "memory" and True Image defaults to opening on that Account page.

Robert, in the system tray notifications list, hover you mouse over the right end of the one with the Holiday offer and you should see a [X] appear that allows you to remove that item.  Try doing that and see if the 'dot' goes away?

Steve, Thanks again for your time.  I appreciate it.

I was hoping this would be the easy solution, but it wasn't.  The "Notice dot" is still there -- but...it does appear that now the GUI opens to the Backup screen all the time.  I even rebooted the system to test it, and it opened again on the Backup screen, not "Account."

The "dot" remains annoying since it suggests there's something important to check, and one doesn't want to ignore that.  But as far as issues goes, this is very minor.  Still, I'll keep checking.  And sent a note to Acronis, so we'll see if they reply.

Thanks again.

Robert

Robert, try scrolling further down the Notifications list from the system tray icon and check that there are no further Acronis 'offers' shown further down (from Black Friday etc)?

Steve, thanks again for the note and sorry for taking a while to respond.

Oddly, the same Holiday Offer had popped back up on that Notifications list.  I deleted it, rebooted and the "Notice dot" is still there.  Further, the Holiday Offer reappeared yet again on the Notifications list.

I assume that the offer showing up as long as its valid is normal -- though of course I have no idea if that's the case.

I sense at this point my two options are to keep writing Acronis until I get an answer, or to just live with the minor annoyance.

Thanks again.

Robert

Hello Robert,

the issue seems to be connected with our latest promo campaign not containing a button to permanently turn off the pop-up message. We have reported this issue to the marketing team. If you want, we can exclude your account from all marketing promo newsletter. Please let me know if that would be acceptable option.
