Restore hidden files on Mac

Anyone here know if it is possible to restore hidden files from online backups made using the Acronis True Image 2021 desktop app for Mac? I can't find any way of showing or selecting hidden files on the "Recovery" tab. Hidden files are enabled in Finder.

(Trying here as asking support seems a dead end. After several days of waiting I just got a canned, Windows-specific response).

Tom, welcome to these public User Forums.

Caveat: I am a Windows user with no direct experience of using ATI on any Mac.

See webpage: How to Show Hidden Files on Mac - which may help if ATI on Mac uses the same approach as it does on Windows, which is to obey the rules for (Windows) Explorer with regard to how hidden / system files are handled?

On Windows, you have to change the Explorer View settings to show hidden files in order for them to be shown in the ATI Recovery panel, so suspect the same may be true for Mac??

Thanks, Steve. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the Mac version works the same as the one for Windows. The Finder does not have a "show hidden files" setting, but displaying these files can be toggled on/off using Cmd-Shift-dot. That does not affect the ATI file list, though, and the Finder shortcut doesn't work there either.

I find it difficult to believe that anyone would release a backup product for Mac that doesn't allow restoring hidden files (keys in the .ssh folde are kinda important, for example), so I assume there has to be a way that maybe just didn't get documented. Tom

Tom, are you able to download a zip file from the Acronis Cloud backup of the hosting folder for the hidden files?

If you can, then try opening the zip and using Finder with the option to show hidden files.

If the issue is still relevant, we also have an article explaining How to show hidden files/folders on macOS
