Safest way to upgrade ATI 2021 to latest version 35860 (including timing with W10 release 20H2)

Thread solved

I have read the "safest" way to upgrade ATI is to remove the prior version and use the cleanup utility before installing the new version.  Is that true to go from ATI 2021 32010 to 35860?  I have not upgraded my W10 PC to W10 20H2 release.  From the release notes for ATI 2021 35860, it looks like the ATI release is meant for the 20H2 version of Windows.  If so, what sequence should I follow? (Create a good backup with ATI 2021 32010, remove ATI and run the clean utility.  Upgrade W10 to 20H2 and then install the latest and greatest ATI 2021?)  Is version 35860 running okay?

Thank you for any advice (which could include wait for a couple of months)

I am a little (no actual very) nervous.  I am relatively new to ATI and have had to reset my brand new PC (including a failed factory reset) multiple times.  The most recent reset occurred after the Operating System became unstable after I tried to open an ATI 2020 (folders/files) backup on an external drive after the PC was returned from HP.  (HP had to perform the factory reset).   Since that time, I have purchased an new External Seagate drive and have been running ATI 2021 backups to my new external Seagate drive.  I have not seen a re-occurrence of my initial problems I had when first using ATI 2020 on my new PC.  The prior problem was the original Seagate external drive would continually disconnect on my new PC but when connected to my old PC that was running freeware backup solution had no issue at all.

Lucia, welcome to these public User Forums.

You shouldn't need to uninstall ATI 2021 before upgrading your Windows 10 OS version providing that ATI is working correctly at the time the Windows upgrade is done.

As with any major change to your PC, it is recommended that you should make a full disk backup of the PC before starting such changes.

I would recommend upgrading ATI 2021 from #32010 first, as this is an older build which was superseded by #34340 and then #35860 most recently, but you can upgrade direct to 35860.

Thanks Steve, for the quick reply.
