Source drive only option as drive to restore to

Thread needs solution

I have a desktop computer with Win 10 on a 1TB Samsung SSD. I backed it up 4 times with Acronis 2020 before losing things to a black screen bootup (probably a lousy Nvidia update). Unfortunately I hadn't set any Win restore points, so retrieving one of the previous backups is essential. The problem is that after the backup to recover is selected, the only  destination shown for it is the drive on which the backups are stored (a WD Elements 25A3), not the Samsung SSD (which is shown, but greyed out). I've been working on this for months, so I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Are you attempting to do the recovery from within Windows nor using recovery media (USB stick or DVD)? If you are using recovery media was it created from within ATI app or was it downloaded from your Acronis account. If created within ATI app what type of recovery media was it - the default simple media uses WinRE.

Is the Samsung drive a SATA drive or an M.2 drive?

Is the computer a desktop or a laptop?

Pat, one further question, do you have the full commercial version of ATI 2020 or do you have an OEM version supplied by a disk maker such as WD etc?

The OEM versions can be restricted to only work if they can detect a drive of the same make installed in the PC.
