Survival Kit on one external drive and multiple computers

Thread needs solution

Here is my setup - I have 3 home computers that all backup full images to a shared 8TB external hard drive. I’d like to be able to restore the image to a new hard drive if one dies.

I’ve read several articles and forums and it sounds like I can use media builder or survival kit. If I use survival kit, do I need to buy more external drives? Or can one survival kit work for all 3 computers? If the latter, do I have to wipe my hard drive to install a survival kit or can I add it to my current drive that has images stored?

Last question is, would it be easier to create a media builder on a thumb drive in my situation? If so, would I need 3? One for each computer or would one work for each? They’re all 3 different model computers.

Thanks in advance for the help!

You can use the one survival kit for all the PCs; unless they have the same motherboard etc, use the Advance (Windows PE) version of the recovery media, to get the widest hardware support. Once created, check that it works with each of the 3 PCs.
