TI 2021 "The quotas are violated" ??

Thread needs solution

This morning I had a taskbar notification that a back up had failed. When I opened TI it had the message that "The quotas are violated". It had a “click here” link that took me to a post in TI 2012 (I’m using 2021) that said it was because the target drive was running out of space.

It’s a 1TB internal hard drive with approx. 500GB free. It was attempting a single version back-up that was about 178GB. Without changing anything I clicked on “Back up now”; it completed successfully.

Is this a problem with 2021?

Dave, this type of message is either given correctly due to space limitations on the target drive or can be given if you have set a value in the settings at the top of the Notifications page for your backup task to be warned about free space issues!

One other potential cause would be if ATI deemed that it needed to switch to using sector-by-sector mode of backup, which can cause a backup that is very much larger than normal.

I am not aware of any issues in this area being reported for ATI 2021 here in the forums.
