Trying to Understand if I can make a Bootable Clone of my full system w Acronis

Thread needs solution

I know what I would like to do.  I am not sure if Acronis or any other procedure is the solution to my problem.

I need to create some sort of a bootable backup for my computer.  I have been using Carbonite to back up my data but this leaves my operating system and all of my programs unprotected if my computer dies, is stolen or burns up in a forest fire.

I would like to create a backup or a clone or whatever you want to call it that contains a complete backup of everything I have on my hard drive including all the passwords for my computer programs.  I am afraid that even if I restored all the programs, I might have problems w the operating system and I definitely might have problems with my passwords.

If my hard drive failed, I could then pop a new hard drive into the computer and run the backup to completely restore the computer.  If the computer was stolen or destroyed in some way, I would buy a new one with similar power and put everything that was on the old computer on the new one.

Is what I want to do possible?  Is Acronis the solution to my needs.  If Acronis will not work, what other things can I buy or do?

Donald, Acronis True Image is fully capable of making a backup of your entire OS disk drive including the OS, all applications, user data and settings, such that you could recover that backup to a totally new disk drive and get back to the point in time when the backup was created with no loss of data or function (other than any new data or changes made after the backup was created).

If you have not already purchased ATI, then I would suggest taking a 30-day trial version but please be aware of the different editions that are available, where Acronis will try to push to towards their subscription model options which require annual renewal and includes other elements such as Cloud storage.  It is possible to get a perpetual license version too.

I would recommend reading through the first few sections of the Acronis True Image 2021 User Guide  which will give you a good introduction to how to use the application.
