Umzug in neues System

Thread solved

hi,

Ich habe folgendes Szenario:

1. Windows 10 Pro System (alt) mit Anwendungen und Daten gesichert mit True Image 2021

Joachim, welcome to these public User Forums.

I have the following scenario:

1. Windows 10 Pro System (old) with applications and data backed up with True Image 2021

2. Windows 10 Pro system (new / new hardware) 'virgin' without applications and data

My questions: What is the most elegant way to migrate the old system to the new hardware platform?

Can I install my True Image 2021 in the new system and then perform the restore online under the new Windows?

Or do I have to do the whole thing with Universal Restore?

Is Windows re-activation necessary after the restore?

You have a choice between two options for the scenario that you have described above.

  1. Install your applications on the new Windows 10 Pro system to take advantage of making a clean start without all the accumulated dross from the years of use for your old Windows 10 system!  Benefiting from the recommended device drivers for all the installed hardware in that PC.
Then recover your user data from the backup of the old PC.

  2. Recover the full disks & partitions backup from the old PC to the new PC, then spend time to ensure that any new hardware 'found' by Windows 10 has the best device drivers installed.
You may need to use Acronis Universal Restore if there are issues booting into the restored Windows 10 OS on the new PC due to missing device drivers that Windows cannot find generic replacements for.

Note: If both PC's have been activated for the same edition (Win 10 Pro) of Windows, then there should not be an activation issues with the 2nd option, as the activation from the original copy of Win 10 Pro will be used for the restored OS.

I would strongly recommend making a full disks & partitions backup of the new PC before attempting both options above.  This is your safety net to allow you to get back to your starting point, i.e. to a 'virgin' Win 10 Pro system as delivered to you!

Migrating your ATI 2021 license to the new PC should not be an issue.
