Un-mount restarts explorer.exe

Thread needs solution

I got True Image for Western Digital (2021) because the WD website is pushing people to it.

I've gotten a backup and wanted to see what it looked like since it backs up to a single file. I mounted the file and can see everything. But when I un-mount the drive, it restarts explorer.exe. I didn't want to, but eventually restarted the computer to kick it off.

Any ideas why it doesn't un-mount?

nthnu, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

You do not need to mount Acronis images to see the contents - just double-click on the .tib or .tibx file in Explorer and it should open for you and allow you to browse through the contents.

Mounting an image file results in the image file opened as a virtual disk.  It is recommended that you use the Acronis Unmount option to unmount the image or Restart your computer:

From the User Guide:

12.9 Unmounting an image

We recommend that you unmount the virtual disk after all necessary operations are finished, as maintaining virtual disks takes considerable system resources. To unmount an image, perform one of the following:

  • In File Explorer, right-click the disk icon and click Unmount.
  • Restart or shut down your computer
