why opening tibx files is so slow

Thread needs solution

In recent years i backed up my pc many times using ATI 2015, so i my NAS i have several tib files and i open them directly using Windows Explorer. The task is very fast also with size = 300-400 GB.

Today i bought the ATI 2021 update and i performed a backup test of my PC. The resulted tibx file is very slow to open with Explorer ! The other fib files instead are fast to open as usual.

Why does the new file type is so slow to open ?
Can i perform backups using the tib file type ?

Pierluigi, welcome to these public User Forums.

I am not aware of any specific reasons why you should see much slower opening performance for your .tibx files but there are a number of factors that can influence this.

The size of files, amount of installed memory, network speed etc all have a bearing here.

There are also changes to the way that .tibx files are used for incremental  backups, i.e. these are now consolidated within a single .tibx file where they were held in separate incremental .tib files.

It is possible to force ATI to still use .tib files for disk backups but this has become much more difficult to do since the latest ATI 2021 build #39184 was released!

See forum topic: How to create a Disk backup as .tib (not .tibx) which will create a new backup task using the older .tib format in the Windows ATI 2020 or 2021 GUI.

See the following KB documents published by Acronis with regards to .tibx files.

Steve, thank you very much for the tips, i've appreciate it.

However reading this forum I understand that it is not yet possible to permanently disable the anti-malware and protection functions of the product, I also have seen the Acronis services still in action. I don't want to have stuff on my pc that consumes CPU and disk space, so after creating the rescue bootable media I uninstalled the product.

I'm very disappointed.

Pierluigi, you are correct regarding the new bundled protection features in ATI 2021 that these cannot be fully disabled and remain active even when turned off permanently!

Please see KB 21242: Refund policy for Personal products for information that should help you if you want to request a refund for your recent purchase.

Please submit Feedback directly to Acronis (use the tool provided in the GUI Help section) and ask for your vote to be added to the Acronis internal feature request: TI-213392 Allow installation without Antimalware components

Hi Pierluigi,

passed your feedback to the product management! Sorry to know you're not satisfied with the new version of Acronis True Image. If you have time, would you also send us Acronis System report from your PC via the Feedback option?
