Wiederherstellung auf SSD funktioniert nicht
Hallo zusammen,
Was mache ich falsch? Liegt es vielleicht an der SSD Festplatte?
Danke an alle im Voraus

Hello everyone
I have the following problem:
I recently replaced my old HDD hard drive with a new SSD 250 GB.
The configuration of my Pc now looks like this:
Drive 1 SSD San Disk 250 GB (with Windows 10)
Drive 2 HDD 1T (Data)
Drive 3 HDD (data).
Yesterday I wanted to restore the system and I tried with the boot Cd as well as (as usual for 15 years) on Windows. Both times without success. Acronis Boot Loader starts normally and shows the recovery window after a few seconds, but it gets stuck. The mouse pointer is displayed as an hourglass, but nothing happens, waited up to 15 minutes without reaction.
What am I doing wrong? Maybe it's because of the SSD hard drive?
Thanks to everyone in advance
Michele Braccia
Of itself, being a SSD should not cause any issues.
It appears that you attempted to restore the system drive in two ways:
- From within Windows - this uses a temporary Linux distribution to do the recovery
- Using CD - if you downloaded the *iso from your account, it would also be a Linux based recovery; if you created the CD from within ATI 2021, there are three possible types; simple (which uses the Windows RE on you PC to create the recovery media), one using Windows PE (which requires Windows ADK [some modules only] and Windows PE), and finally a Linux base recovery media.
In most case the simple recovery media is the best solution as it should include all the necessary drivers for you PC.
Would you please advise the type of recovery media you are using. Also is the SSD attached to an SATA port or to an M.2 port.
When booting from recovery media you need to ensure that you select the correct mode; modern PC can boot in two ways, legacy [traditional BIOS] and UEFI. You need to select the mode that the PC uses. If the system disk has a UEFI partition then it is using UEFI.
The recovery media downloaded from your Acronis account will not fit on a CD, as it is more than 700MB, so you would need a DVD.

DUPLICATE POST - due to VERY slow response by sever - multiple time-outs!

Hallo,

Michele, when you start a recovery from Windows, you are launching into a small Linux kernel OS environment which may not have full support for your disk drives.
When you create the default 'Simple' rescue media and use that for recovery, you are booting into a Windows PE environment where support is taken from your Windows Recovery Environment, so should recognise your disk drives much better! This for me, is the only way that I do any recoveries for OS drives.

Michele

Steve, thank you very much for your help, but why is recovery on Windows not a problem when using ATI 2020? Everything works fine there. I only have the problem with ATI 2021, even if the PC configuration remains unchanged.
Michele, Acronis look to have changed the (BusyBox) Linux kernel being used in ATI 2021 but there is no published details on this! Other users have reported issues with the Linux based media!
This was published for earlier versions in KB 1537 and there is some information in the following documents:
KB 63222: Third-party software used in Acronis True Image 2020

I have the same problem (Windows 10 with an M.2 SSD). It works with the recovery medium, but not with Windows, but ATI 2020 runs perfectly.
Richard, welcome to these public User Forums.
Sorry but can you clarify your statement? What is not working with Windows? Do you mean if launching Acronis recovery from within Windows?

Yes, that's I mean.. The computer restarts and then ATI is hanging. The hourglass is rotating and rotating.

Thanks for confirming Richard, this is the same issue as I answered above in posts #6 and #8 - you are restarting into a small BusyBox Linux kernel environment which doesn't have driver support for your M.2 SSD or the SATA controller mode being used for it (if using RAID).

Will there be a fix?
I am currently testing before uprading, but with the bug I will probably stick with ATI 2020.

Richard, does your M.2 SSD use RAID mode, if so, then it is unlikely to be fixed because there is no RAID support in the Linux media that Acronis uses?
A new build of ATI 2021 #32010 was released today but it is too early to have done any testing of all these scenarios to see if anything has changed?

No RAID, and I testet the new release too, same problem.

Thanks for testing this on the new build Richard, unfortunately the only further option would be to raise this direct with Acronis by opening a support case or else submitting Feedback, but Acronis have been moving away from Linux media since introducing the changes to the Rescue Media builder in ATI 2018 where the focus is now on Windows PE media.
I wish they would complete this by changing the restart to also use WinPE along with the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM) or do like Macrium does and add a Windows Boot Menu option for the WinPE rescue media!
I have done this for myself on my main laptop and have a BCD entry to launch the ATI WinPE media from the Windows boot menu.
