Win 10 Application Event log: VSS event 12293 during nightly backup, but the backups seem to be working

Thread solved

Windows 10 Pro v. 2004 Build 19041.508, True Image 2021.

The system is (apparently) working just fine, so I had no occasion to look at the event logs, but I see three event 12293 VSS entries when the backups start each night, one for each drive on the system. The backups seem to be working just fine though.

The three folklore-based fixes have been tried, with no effect:

SFC /SCANNOW, CHKDSK /F, set the two VSS services "Startup type" to "automatic"

On the way, I found that the System Restore function isn't working, with attempts to create or delete restore files producing a 0X81000203 error, which may be related (or not).

The only errors showing in the AcronisVSSDoctor are the 12293 entries from the event log.

Any suggestions about addressing these errors?

You may also want to download the MVP assistant tool. to view the logs to see if there are any messages. Look at the Backup_worker logs for .tibx format or the ti_demon if this is a .tib formatted backup

I've been looking around with the old "MVP Log Viewer" and the "ti_demon" logs. The entries as far back as I've looked all look normal. I was almost hoping to find something.

I just downloaded the new "MVP Assistant." Anything new in there I can look for?

If your backups are using the new .tibx format then look at the backup_worker logs. If the logs show no issues and your backups are working I'm not sure that there is much to do.

Still using the old .tib format, but the logs show nothing and the backups are all OK. They validate, and I actually "recovered" a handful of files to make sure that the data was actually OK.

I'm afraid you're right about there not being much to do. I've scoured the Internet with the error codes and messages and while I find lots of people with the same problems, and a handful of suggestions on how to address them, the "fixes" don't do anything for me and apparently nothing for anyone else either.
