Hello Jean-Francois,

thank you for your question. I will be glad to assist you.

There are no known issues with FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64, that could prevent successful backup to CIFS shared folder on a ZFS volume.

Could you please provide me with more details on the issue you've faced so that I can investigate a specific case.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Thank you.

I found a related issue and bug in Acronis bootable Recovery versions 2013 and 2014 as well.

The issue is this. If your FreeNAS hard disks are set to a power management mode that includes hard disks spin down, then you won't be able to see the CIFS shares on the first try.

The work around is this: You try once, and then reboot, and then try again. I am able to allays able to connect on the 2nd try. The 1st try, wakes up the disks, and is awake and available on the 2nd try.

It seems to me that the bug is that Acronis is timing out to quickly before the hard disks have a chance to spin up and be ready.
