Acronis VSS Provider does constantly start and stop
Hello,
I'm using Acronis True Image Echo on a Windows 2003 R2 Server. In the last months the server sometimes starts to get inaccessible and we need to hard reset the whole machine. The problem seems to be that I'm using three different VSS Providers. In the eventlog I see this message:
Description: An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the Registry.
But this entry is a follow up of various VSS errors and DCOM errors (the DCOMs ALSO point to the VSS Providers).
What I found out so far, that the event log shows an interesting behavior of all those VSS Providers. They are constantly starting and stopping. One of those providers is in use the whole day, as this is a continious backup system by Symantec. But WHY is the Acronis VSS Provider doing the same? I only use Acronis in the evening.
I think I could solve this issue if I could "tell" Acronis only the start when it's really needed.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Christof
