CPU Maxed Out - Hardware Interrupts?

Thread needs solution

I am using a version of Acronis Backup that came with my Seagate BlackArmor 2TB network storage. I have it installed on 2 XP machines both using GB network cards.

On my MAIN machine (XP Pro) all is well and backups proceed at a comfortable rate. Network used during the backup is about 12%.

On the 2nd machine (XP Home) it's a different story. When the scheduled backup begins the CPU use goes to 100% or close to that. When the backup is completed the CPU use returns to normal. Network used during backup is typically 1%.

Further examination of where all the cycles are going with "Process Explorer" indicates that 85 to 90% of the use is with "Hardware Interrupts".

I have no further details on what these "Hardware Interrupts" might be? Any thoughts out there? Could this possibly be a driver conflict issue?

Thoughts appreciated - thanks.

Hello Rick,

Thank you for your post. I will do my best to assist you.

Hardware interrupts can be related to a specific hardware issue or possibly to transfer modes used in Windows. Unfortunately I do not have detailed information about your setup, but you can try checking this solution and see if this resolves the issue.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
