Echo Server Build 8398 - Console does not start

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody,

today I encoutered a problem opening Acronis True Image Echo Server on a 2008 SBS machine.
First of all, the software worked for years. I had errors reading the USB drive (before starting backup) on which the backups are placed. So I found this KB article:
http://kb.acronis.com/system/files/content/2005/12/1514/failedtoread.ht…
As described I replaced the TrueImage.exe with this one: http://kb.acronis.com/sites/default/files/content/2005/12/1514/atiserve…
The console didnt show - I was told no valid license was installed. I then changed to the original .exe file and Acronis worked. Then I had to reboot the machine, to see what happens with the USB drive afterward.
While booting I saw a black screen which updated any registry entry / entries.
After that, I was no longer able to open the Acronis Console! When looking into the task manager I found out that the TrueImage.exe * 32 was running.
Also a repair / reinstallation of the software didn`t solve the problem.

Right now I am completely unable to use the software!

Does anyone have an idea what to try next?

Acording to the article you needed http://kb.acronis.com/sites/default/files/content/2005/12/1514/atisbs/T… for SBS instead. If this exe doens't work, you may try cleanup utility (usual disclaimer that it may be dangerous, and I don't remember is there is the one for Echo)
