Error Message: E000101F4: Failed to read data from the disk
Hi,
Just attempting to do a full back up to a separate drive, about 10 seconds in, i get the following error message:
E000101F4: Failed to read data from the hard disk
Failed to read from the sector 63 of the hard disk 2
I've ran two Check Disks on the drive - both came back with no errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!

My problem was that it could not read the target it was writing the backup to. It would go for about 30 seconds. I had this problem on multiple different machines. I was able to resolve my issue by deleting the ".meta" folder. Now everything seems to be working fine.

Everytime I have had this in the past I just hit ignore or ignore all and the backup completes. I havent had issues with restoring an issue when I get that error.

What I did 2 correct the problem..
lost most control of my fingers, body, have constant spasms & tremors (post-polio) with throat & lung cancer, so pleaqe bear with me, it hurts like hell 2 type or move(but i ain't dead yet doggitt!)
I installed a 3TB drive (win 7 64 bit) on an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2.0 Motherboard with Asus U3S6 (USB3.0 -Sata III) Controller Card the other day and after trying 2 backup a 256 Gig partition i received the error. I Checked Alignment using what i had on hand and found a partition on one drive & an MBR not set on even boundary so i fixed both problems and the error went away. Weird that the MBR on one drive wasn't on an even boundary i found that one- thanks to Terrabytes unlimiteds Image for Windows, i noticed it while trying 2 validate an already backed up file. It was by coincidence cause I wasn't really paying attention..
So Acronis True Image Home 2011 doesn't prepare a drive correctly (at least setting each partition & or the MBR on an even boundary. Wonder is this fixed in Ti Home 2012. Does anyone know?
Hope this solves the problem 4 others..
The problem was not with the 3 TB alignment but i had 2 other drives plus 3 SD's (in a Raid0 config 4 booting) the problem appeared on the other 2 mechanical drives a 1 & 2 TB drives. running nice now with no errors. ]

I am also having a similar a problem whenever i select particular files to backup. But I noticed the problem is with Acronis true image echo server for windows build 8398. However on machines with old build 8203 it works fine. The errror I am getting is E00040007. Failed to backup file or folder e:\mssql\msql.1\mssql\data\data1.mdf
Please help.

Hello hashus,
Thank you for your post. I will certainly help you with this issue.
It is possible this error is caused because those files are in use. As a workaround I would recommend to create a partition backup instead and exclude all the unnecessary files from the backup. Please check page 35 from the user guide for additional information.
Let me know if you have additional questions please.
Thank you.

Hi Anton,
Thank you for reply.
Yes, the files are actually in use. It is only two files that I want to backup. .mdf and .ldf. using the workaround will still bring other files which is not workable considering there are other folders with different type of files on the partition.
The strange part is that the older build of acronis echo server 8203 works flawlessly and manages to take the files even though they are in use!
Thanks again.

Hashus,
Are you able to suspend database transactions while backing up the two files?

If these files contain a SQL database, you generally do not want to back them up directly using a file backup program such as Acronis. You first want to a SQL utility to back up the database to a file on the computer and then use Acronis to make a backup of that file on another device.
