Imaging 2008 server

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am trying to image a 2008 server R2 that has been a little difficult to convert to VM.
I am not sure I am posting in the appropriate area of the forum.
My first attempt was to download Backup and Recovery for Servers.
But I failed to understand how I create a .tib file to convert with VMware converter.
Is this the right product? I used Acronis a long time ago when it was a single product that worked on workstations and servers. Now I am a little lost...
I should mention that the server in question cannot have downtime so I would have to create the .tib file without any service interruptions...
Thanks,

Ozz.

Vmware converter doesn't support .tib files created by new (or even not so new) version of Acronis. But you can install Backup and Recovery for Server, create a backup of the server and then recover it , specifying 'new virtual machine' as a destination, e.g. as a 'set of files' of vmware workstation type.

"cannot have downtime" is quite a loose term without measurable consequences of actually having it.
