Locking Partition is taking a long time.
I'm running verison 9.1 build 3920. The problem is that I'm backing up to an external HD from Western Digital of 1TB. On this particular server I'm backing up to the Western Digtial shared on another server connected via usb 2. It's very sporadic but it will hang on "locking partition D": which is 850GB. Some days it works fine but some not.
Partition C: 20GB 9GB free
Partition D: 850Gb 600GB free.
I'm doing a entire backup each evening.

True Image Server 9.1 freezes at "locking partition"
I've repeatedly tried to restore an image from a Dell Poweredge 2950 to a new Dell Poweredge R710 but experience the same problem each time. The restore utility works, up to the point whereby it's "Locking partition D" and then just sits there for hours with the animated clock. What gives? The new machine is using Dell PERC 6/i 1.22 and it is a fresh machine with only Server 2003 on there.

Hello Warren!
Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern and will be glad to help you.
The issue is related to the SnapAPI drivers unable to connect/properly detect the drive. This can be caused eitehr by the installation glitch or the software incompatibility: Acronis True Image 9.1 Server for Windows is an outdated product. It's not developed, updated and supported anymore, thus we never modified it to work with the newest hardware, and it may result in such conflict. We can try resolving the issue by updating the SnapAPI drivers, but I cannot guarantee that it will 100% work.
Please download and run the following package on the machine in question:
http://download.acronis.com/support/SnapAPI.337_s_e.msi
I will automatically update the drivers and may resolve the issue.
Please also make sure that the source drive you're backing up doesn't contain any errors or badblocks:
- Go to Start -> Run -> cmd
- Issue there the following command:
chkdsk /r /f - Reboot the machine when possible
On the next booting the machine will run the CheckDisk and fix all possible problems.
This should help to resolve the problem.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!
