Server fails to bootup after using Acronis Startup recovery manager to restore backup.

Thread needs solution

Hello, I have Acronis True Image for SBS and Im trying to restore a full system backup of my DELL sbs2008 system onto a HP test server i'm setting up which has dis-similar hardware. I was advised that Acronis have the tools to do this so I selected to Activate Acronis Startup recovery manager on my dis-similar hardware and then rebooted the system, pressed F11, the recovery manager came up so I selected to restore all the partitions from the backup.
The restore reported to be successful but now when I reboot the test server it fails to boot up.
Can you think what's wrong and how I can rectify it.

Thanks

Chris

Hello Chris,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the Forum.

In order to restore to dissimilar hardware you need to use Acronis Universal Restore component which is a paid add-on and is placed on Acronis bootable media when it is created or downloaded from your Acronis web-account.

You will also need correct drivers for your new hardware, such as hard disk controller drivers. Please take a look at the following recovery guide and if you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.
